Noted garden designer to visit Ludington in October

Janet Macunovich has been gardening, writing about gardening and teaching gardening for more than 30 years.

On Saturday, Oct. 27, Macunovich will come to Ludington to conduct an all-day seminar for local gardeners. There will be two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

The program is from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at United Methodist Church, 5810 Bryant Road. The event is being hosted by the Mason County Garden Club.

In session one, Macunovich will talk about saving time and energy in the garden in order to “defy your age.” The second session concentrates on perennials with an emphasis on fall plantings.

Her background includes a gardening column for the Detroit News and currently in Michigan Gardening magazine. Her books cover all aspects of gardening and garden design. She is a master gardener and professional garden designer.
