Roads closed in Stamford, Shelton for Columbus Day events

Roads will be closed Sunday in various towns for Columbus Day activities.

In Shelton, several roads will be shut down for the Columbus Day parade, according to the police department’s Twitter. The parade starts at Howe Avenue and Brook Street and ends at Canal and Cornell streets.

A parking ban for the parade route begins at 9 a.m. At 10 a.m., Howe Avenue between Brook Street and White Street will be closed. The entire parade route will close at 11:15 a.m.

Meanwhile, in Stamford, Main Street between Washington Boulevard and Summer Street will be closed until 7 p.m., according to the police department’s Twitter.

The city will celebrate Columbus Day and Italian culture during the Amore Italian Street Festival, which is held from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in Columbus Park.
