Longmont Man Set for Trial After Pleading Not Guilty in Menacing Case

March 22, 2019 GMT

A man Longmont police rousted from a home last year with gas rounds pleaded not guilty in Boulder District Court on Friday to felony menacing and obstructing a police officer.

Prosecutors allege Michael Jason Humphreys, 44, while armed with a handgun, threatened another man who had been in some kind of dispute with Humphreys’ son in April 2018.

When police came to arrest Humphreys the following day, he refused to come out, and police used gas rounds to force him outside.

Humphreys is due back in court on May 30 for a status conference and has a four-day trial scheduled to begin Aug. 19. He remains free on bond.
