Taylor named interim chancellor at River Parishes Community
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — River Parishes Community College has named a new interim leader.
The Louisiana Community and Technical College System Board of Supervisors appointed Quintin D. Taylor to the post Wednesday. Taylor currently serves as the system’s Chief Public Affairs and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer. His new appointment is effective June 1.
“While this is an interim role, I look forward to working strategically with the faculty and staff to move the college forward,” Taylor said in a news release. “Our focus will be on growing the college’s enrollment, refining the college’s business operations, supporting employee development, and providing legendary service to our students and industry partners.”
Taylor will replace Jim Carlson who has served as interim chancellor since 2020. Carlson plans to resume his role as vice chancellor of strategic initiatives and external affairs at Northshore Technical Community College in Hammond.
Carlson filled in after Dale Doty announced his retirement from the position last year after serving as chancellor since 2013.
According to the news release, the search for a permanent chancellor will resume this summer, with interviews in the fall and a recommendation and decision to be made in December.
