Family, dog OK in North Side fire
A family of three and their pet dog escaped injury Sunday morning when a fire broke out in the basement of their home.
The fire was reported at about 11:10 a.m. in the 800 block of Northland Drive, the Madison Fire Department said.
A resident discovered smoke coming from the basement, so everybody evacuated.
“No smoke or flames were visible when Engine 10 rolled up to the single family home, but as firefighters walked around the house, they discovered smoke coming from a basement window in the rear of the home,” said spokeswoman Cynthia Schuster.
The fire was extinguished within minutes.
No cause of the fire or damage estimate was given.
