Small Maine hospital evacuated because of smoke
NORWAY, Maine (AP) — A small Maine hospital was evacuated Friday after smoke was reported in the facility.
The 21 patients at the Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway, including two with COVID-19, were transported to other facilities, officials said.
The fire department arrived at the hospital around 2:15 p.m., said a spokesman for MaineHealth, which operates the hospital.
The emergency room re-opened late Friday night, said community relations director Abigail Graiver on Saturday.
There was no word Saturday morning about the cause of the smoke.
