Police seek suspect in theft of teen’s $3,000 saxophone
BOSTON (AP) — Transit police are looking for help in identifying a man suspected of stealing a Boston high school student’s $3,000 saxophone last month.
The 16-year-old student was at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority’s Fields Corner station in the early afternoon of Oct. 29 when she placed the musical instrument on a bench located on the outbound platform, transit police said in a statement posted on their website Friday.
The student turned away briefly and at that time an unknown man grabbed the saxophone and left the station, police said.
Police also released two surveillance images of the suspect who was wearing jeans, a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and a Boston Red Sox cap, including one of him walking down the station stairs carrying an instrument case.
Anyone who recognizes the man is asked to call the department’s investigations unit.
