Authorities unable to confirm shots fired at Phoenix concert
PHOENIX (AP) — A woman reportedly suffered a leg wound after a shooting at an outdoor concert in Phoenix, but authorities said Sunday that they have been unable to confirm whether shots were actually fired.
Police said officers were dispatched to the Celebrity Theatre parking lot concert about 10 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports of a shooting during an event featuring rapper Lil Durk and others.
Videos on social media showed concertgoers running from the area.
Shots reportedly were heard as the crowd of some 7,000 people were exiting the event.
Police at the scene initially told ABC15 that a woman at the front of the stage was grazed in the leg by a gunshot and another person reportedly suffered scrapes while trying to climb a fence and run from the area.
ABC 15 learned from several witnesses at the scene and a manager who works at the theatre that a microphone was dropped by an artist on stage that may have caused individuals to believe they heard shots fired.
Police said their investigation was ongoing.
