City tries to determine source of mysterious explosions
BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) — Fire investigators are trying to determine the source of two loud explosions and accompanying flashes of white light that shook a Massachusetts city late Sunday night.
The Brockton Fire Department on Monday announced a reward of up to $5,000 through the ArsonWatch reward program for information about the explosions.
“Investigators need your help,” the department wrote in a Facebook post. “If anyone saw anything that can help investigators pin the location or suspects that would be helpful.”
Social media users described the blasts as “massive booms,” “loud banging sounds” and “like something blew up,” The Enterprise reported.
The Brockton Fire Department said its Fire Prevention Bureau, city police and Massachusetts State Police are working on determining the source.
“Investigators are asking for you to please check you exterior cameras for flashes of light last night between 11:45 p.m. and midnight,” the fire department said.
Only one call about the noises was received, the department said.
At least four mysterious explosions hit the city in October. It’s not clear if they are connected.
