Former mayor of Purcell charged with stealing from city
PURCELL, Mo. (AP) — Former Purcell Mayor Nancy Wilson has been charged with stealing from the town, the Jasper County prosecutor announced Wednesday.
Wilson, 50, was charged last week with felony stealing after an investigation by the sheriff’s department.
The prosecutor did not say how much she was accused of stealing from the small town of about 400 residents about 15 miles (24.14 kilometers) north of Joplin.
Wilson was released after posting a $2,600 bond, The Joplin Globe reported. She was scheduled to be arraigned July 7.
The investigation is continuing and the sheriff’s office said more charges are possible.
