Clinton to make first trip to Missouri in bid for presidency

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Hillary Rodham Clinton will campaign in the St. Louis area Tuesday, marking her first trip to Missouri as a presidential candidate.

Clinton will speak at a Florissant church about the fatal shooting of nine members of a historic black church in Charleston, South Carolina, by a white man.

The former secretary of state also will hold a fundraiser hosted by Trudy Busch Valentine, daughter of the late chairman of the Anheuser-Busch Companies.

Clinton is the leading Democratic presidential candidate. She’s making her second bid for president after losing to Barack Obama in the 2008 primaries.

Clinton has been criticized for waiting weeks to comment after a white officer fatally shot black 18-year-old Michael Brown in Ferguson. That’s close to where she’ll speak in Florissant.
