3 abandoned ducks found in Middletown park, taken to safety
MIDDLETOWN, CT (AP) — Three young, domestic ducks were abandoned in a Middletown park but are now being safely cared for, animal control officers said.
The city Parks Department first came across the ducks and alerted the Police Department’s animal control officers, they said in a Facebook post this week.
The birds would not have fared all right in the wild on their own, but they’re now in a safe place, the post said.
The officers surmised that someone might have bought the fluffy, yellowish-white ducks for Easter, “or just because they were cute.”
“Unfortunately, they grow fast and can be very messy and more than you bargained for,” the officers added, urging people unable to care for their domestic animals to find them a responsible home.
