HAZELWOOD, Mo. (AP) — Prosecutors have charged a man with causing the death of another while driving drunk in suburban St. Louis last year.

Taron Murphy, 41, of Hazelwood, has been charged with DWI resulting in death for the early-morning crash Sept. 24 that killed 51-year-old Alean Williams, of Dellwood, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

Williams was a passenger in a car that was hit by another car driven by Murphy, police have said. Investigators say Murphy was speeding at the time and had a blood alcohol content of .21%, more than 2 1/2 times the legal driving limit of .08%.

Murphy has also been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm after police found a gun in his wrecked car. Murphy is a convicted felon who is barred from having guns, prosecutors said.
