There is plenty to do this weekend!
Hopscotch Music Festival (Downtown Raleigh) - This yearly music festival kicks off on Thursday at various venues in downtown Raleigh. Headliners include Liz Phair, Miguel, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Grizzly Bear, The Flaming Lips and MC50 performing MC5’s ‘Kick out the Jams.’ Check out our guide to Hopscotch
Beericana (Sugg Farm Park, 2401 Grigsby Avenue, Holly Springs) - This craft beer and music festival is Saturday at Sugg Farm Park. There will be more than 70 breweries, 15 food trucks and three bands.
Raleigh Greek Festival (N.C. State Fairgrounds, Jim Graham Building, 1025 Blue Ridge Rd., Raleigh) - This 37th annual festival will be held this weekend at the N.C. State Fairgrounds. Enjoy delicious, authentic food prepared by the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church Family using recipes handed down for generations. There will also be Greek music and traditional folk dances. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Habitat for Humanity, Homes For Our Troops and Team Rubicon.
Four Oaks Acorn Festival (Downtown Four Oaks) - On Saturday, head to Four Oaks to enjoy this family friendly event with live music, food trucks, antique cars and tractors and local shopping. The Kids Zone will have bounce houses, carnival games, face painting, train rides and a petting zoo. The stage in Barbour’s Grove Park will feature Eric Strickland and Here Tonight, the Antique Outlaws, and The Expressions.
Tacos N Taps Festival (Booth Amphitheatre, 8003 Regency Parkway, Cary) - This festival at Booth Amphitheatre in Cary on Saturday will offer all-you-care-to-taste beer and tequila, served alongside tacos and Mexican food.
Bill Leslie Stage Dedication (Sertoma Amphitheatre in Bond Park, 801 High House Road, Cary) - Former WRAL anchor Bill Leslie will perform on the stage that bears his name following a dedication ceremony at Sertoma Amphitheatre.
Taj Mahal Trio (Carolina Theatre of Durham, 309 W. Morgan St., Durham) - See this blues trio in Durham on Friday.
Farmhouse Jams (Wendell Farms, 320 Vintage Point Ln., Wendell) - This outdoor concert will feature Johnny Folsom 4, a Johnny Cash cover band, at Wendell Falls.
Paperhand Puppet Intervention: In the Heart of the Fire (NCMA, Joseph M. Bryan, Jr., Theater, 2110 Blue Ridge Rd, Raleigh) - Featuring giant puppets, stilt dancers, shadow puppets and original live music, Paperhand’s annual production is a wild, wondrous spectacle. See it Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
Joy Koy (DPAC, 123 Vivian St., Durham) - Jo Koy’s humble beginnings in standup comedy took place in Las Vegas coffee shops in the early 1990s. He has gone on to appear on the “Tonight Show” and “Chelsea Lately.” See him at Durham Performing Arts Center on Saturday.
Downtown Cary Food and Flea (Fidelity Bank Plaza, 100 W. Chatham Street, Cary) - This artisan and vintage market is Sunday in downtown Cary. There will be live music, local arts, shopping, food trucks and local craft beer.
Fullsteam Anniversary (726 Rigsbee Avenue, Durham) - Help this Durham brewery celebrate eight years in business on Saturday with food specials, music, prizes, rare plow to pint beer and a special 16 ounce can and draft release of a new Brut IPA brewed with Epiphany Foundation.
The Devilish Egg Grand Opening (300 Blake St, Raleigh) - This craft class location will be holding its grand opening on Friday night with entertainment, food and crafting. Special guests include Durham’s renowned Poetry Fox, innovative harpist Michelle Cobley of Raleigh and tarot card readings by well-known spiritualists Philip and Magdalena of Black Unykorn.
Low Country Boil and Brew (The Root Cellar, 750 Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard, Chapel Hill) - The Root Cellar and House of Hops are teaming up for this seafood boil on Sunday. There will be fresh shrimp, sausage, corn on the cob and potatoes, in addition to 24 craft beers on tap and hundreds of bottled and canned beers, available for purchase.
AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day (N.C. State Fairgrounds, Holshauser Building, 1025 Blue Ridge Road, Raleigh) - This family-friendly and educational event is happening Saturday. It will include training activities with your dog, chances to get your dog microchipped and action-packed dog demonstrations.
The Bazaar Craft & Art Market (Carrboro Town Commons, 301 West Main Street, Carrboro) - This fall bazaar features handmade crafts and creations from more than 30 local artists on Sunday. There will also be food and drink from Merry Franksters, Baozi, Thai Box Zing Catering, Yee Haw Doughnuts, Bull City Ciderworks, Mystery Brewing Company, Boro Beverage and Carrboro Coffee Roasters. There will be mehndi, face painting and fairy hair, while Selector B Steady will spin world beats. Hooping aficionado Bonnie MacDougall will bring hoops for everyone to enjoy.
