Northeast Hawks men’s basketball splits opening weekend in Hutchinson, Kansas

The Northeast Hawks men’s basketball team is 1-1 after a road trip to Hutchinson, Kansas to start the season.

They dropped their opener of the year to NJCAA ninth ranked in Division I Hutchinson 99-62 last Friday before bouncing back with a 91-75 win over the Tabor JV of Kansas on Saturday. The Hawks will try to better last year’s 15-17 record. They return only one player in Moses Byekwaso from last year’s team. Northeast also added 13 new faces for this year’s squad including Norfolk’s Zack James, Spencer’s Caleb Rihanek, Scribner’s Ben Moxness, and Humphrey’s Luke Rollman. Their home schedule before winter break includes games with the York JV, Iowa Central, Iowa Lakes, Southeast of Nebraska, Quakerdale Prep of Iowa, the Concordia JV.
