FAMILY SPENDS NIGHT AT FAO SCHWARZ STORE IN NYC
NEW YORK (AP) — Spending a day at the FAO Schwarz toy store in midtown Manhattan can be a thrill any time. Imagine spending a whole night there — and doing so in the middle of the Christmas season. That was the deal for a family that scored the treat as part of a partnership between the store and Airbnb, which listed the event this month. The family had a specially made living room that overlooked the Rockefeller Center tree. But the big selling point was having the run of the store, including the huge keyboard featured in the movie “Big” — and a shopping spree. It’s worth noting that due to the pandemic, the family had to prove they were New York City residents, live in the same household — and the store space had to be specially cleaned.
COUPLE FLEES AIRCRAFT USING EMERGENCY SLIDE
NEW YORK (AP) — Ever been cooped up in an airplane and feel antsy about getting out? Authorities in New York say a couple decided to exit the aircraft in the worst possible way: by using an emergency slide. Officials with Delta and LaGuardia Airport say Antonio Murdock and Brianna Greco bolted just before the flight was to leave for Atlanta. Witnesses say Murdock forced the cabin door open and hopped onto the emergency chute leading down to the runway. Greco and the couple’s Great Dane puppy quickly followed. The couple was arrested and faces charges linked to the early exit. Murdock told the New York Post he had a panic attack. The plane was taken out of service and passengers were put on other flights.
