Temple’s Haason Reddick appears ready for NFL Draft day

Haason Reddick doesn’t plan to change his work ethic heading into the NFL Draft next month. After a brilliant season playing for the Temple Owls, Reddick has played well in the Senior Bowl and was sensational at the NFL Combine last week.

He hasn’t rested on his laurels. On Wednesday, Reddick participated in Temple’s Pro Day. He displayed talents and versatility in front of more than 50 pro scouts, 32 of them from the NFL. According to some NFL mock drafts, Reddick has been listed as a first round pick, but he plans to keep everything in its proper perspective.

“It’s great,” Reddick said. “I put in a lot of hard work with football. I basically dedicated my whole life to it. People have been saying a lot of great things about me, but I’ve tried to block out the noise. I just try to remain humble. I just keep thanking God for all the blessings he’s sent my way.”

Reddick grew up in Camden, N.J. and joined the Owls’ football program as a walk-on. The 6-foot-1, 230-pound defensive lineman, worked extremely hard to become a big time player. He was an All-American Athletic Conference pick last season.

He led the country with 22.5 tackles for loss. He had 65 tackles, 10.5 sacks, one interception, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. In 2012, he moved from safety, to linebacker, to defensive end. He completed his college career with 46 TFLs.

The NFL Draft will take place in Philadelphia April 27-29 at the Philadelphia Art Museum. This could be a big day for Reddick and some of his Temple teammates such as Dion Dawkins, Jahad Thomas, Nate Hairston and others. Reddick is excited about having the draft in the city. If he’s selected, Reddick won’t have to go very far from North Broad Street.

“I think that’s awesome,” Reddick said. “If my name gets called, especially in the first round, and [to] get drafted in a city that I played in for four years, and to get drafted so close to home, and to have so much support here, I feel like the city will be behind me. I know my city [Camden] will be behind me.

“It’s just outstanding. It’s like a dream come true. I’m living a dream. I don’t want to wake up yet. It’s excellent.”
