Forward Blueger Recalled To Pittsburgh
Teddy Blueger’s return to the AHL was a rather brief one.
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ leading scorer was recalled by Pittsburgh on an emergency basis on Wednesday, just two days after the team reassigned him to the Penguins.
Pittsburgh was already low on forward depth, but an injury to Bryan Rust in Tuesday’s victory over Columbus necessitated the move. Defenseman Chad Ruhwedel was also injured in the game.
Blueger had three goals in nine games during his first stint with the parent club. He skated with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Wednesday at the Toyota SportsPlex.
The addition of Blueger means four players on the Penguins’ opening night roster are now playing in Pittsburgh, also including Zach Trotman, Zach Aston-Reese and Garrett Wilson. Trotman was promoted earlier this week after defensemen Brian Dumoulin and Kris Letang were both injured in Saturday’s Stadium Series game in Philadelphia.
