Two shot at downtown Cleveland strip club were hit by stray bullets, police say

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Two men shot early Tuesday after stepping out of a downtown Cleveland strip club were hit by stray bullets, police say.

The shooting happened about 2:30 a.m. outside Magic City strip club on St. Clair Avenue and East 23rd Street.

The two men, ages 34 and 35, told police they walked out of the club and saw two other men fighting on the sidewalk, police reports say.

Someone fired about 10 gunshots, police reports say. Bullets hit the 34-year-old man in the hip and the 35-year-old man in the leg, police reports say. Both men fell to the ground.

The shooters jumped in separate cars and drove away, police reports say. No arrests were made.

The two men who were walked to the 35-year-old man’s SUV. A friend dropped them off at MetroHealth, police reports say.

Several people called 911 and reported gunfire in the area, but when police arrived, no one said they saw the gunfire or shooting. The club was also closed when the officers arrived.

The officers closed out the report until MetroHealth officials contacted police and said that two men with gunshot wounds came to the hospital.

Officers went back to the strip club and found a blood trail from the front door of the club leading east, police reports say. Investigators found several bullet casings in front of the club and $141 in cash near the end of the blood trail, police reports say.
