Man shot in arm while sleeping in car in Cleveland’s West Boulevard neighborhood

CLEVELAND, Ohio – A Cleveland man was shot in the arm while he slept in his car Wednesday in the city’s West Boulevard neighborhood.

The 39-year-old man could not say who shot him just before 3 a.m. on Bosworth Road near Lorain Avenue. He laid still and pretended to be dead after he was shot, according to a police report.

No suspects have been identified in the case, the police report says.

The man was sleeping in his car outside his apartment because he got into a fight with his girlfriend, he told investigators. The girlfriend was on her way to Toledo when the shooting occurred, the man said.

The man woke to the sound of approximately four gunshots. He felt a sharp pain in his arm and realized he’d been shot, the police report says.

The man waited until he felt he was out of danger, and decided to drive himself to MetroHealth.

He called 911 while he was driving, and Cleveland police officers found him and pulled him over on West 25th Street near Swift Avenue. They called Cleveland EMS to take him to MetroHealth for treatment.

Investigators found broken glass and seven bullet casings near the spot where the man was shot. They also towed the man’s car to be checked for evidence, the police report says.
