Remains found in Oklahoma ID’d as man missing since 1988
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Human remains found in 2019 have been identified as those of a Chickasha man who disappeared more than three decades ago, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said Friday.
The remains were identified by the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification as those of Alvin Stark, who was reported missing in May 1988, according to the OSBI.
“It is a good day, when after 33 years you can tell a family member that their loved one has been located,” said OSBI Director Ricky Adams. “It doesn’t bring Alvin Stark back, but it does return him to his loved ones for a proper burial.”
The remains were discovered after the OSBI’s Cold Case Unit found a witness who directed them to the location.
A suspect identified by Chickasha police in Stark’s death has since died, the OSBI said.
