JCSO: Nederland man sexually abused two girls, took video
A Nederland man was indicted on multiple counts of sexually abusing two nine year old girls and kept video evidence on his phone, records show.
Eric Joseph Scott, 35, was indicted on Wednesday by a Jefferson County grand jury on four first degree felony charges.
The first girl told officials that she met Scott when her mother became friends with him in November 2015. Scott would come and stay over at their house in Port Arthur. The mother told police that her daughter told her Scott was abusing her but another police agency say there was nothing that could be done, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The abuse reportedly continued until March 2016. On July 31 of this year, the girl told the JCSO that Scott would promise to buy her chewing gum in exchange for sexual acts. He allegedly would show her child pornographic videos on his phone and say he liked little girls, the affidavit states.
Officials were alerted about the abuse of a second child when deputies were sent to Nederland after Scott’s former boss found child pornography on his cell phone. Scott was then arrested at his home for a parole violation.
On the phone, there were reportedly several videos of Scott touching the genitals of another young girl who was unconscious during the assault, the affidavit states. Scott’s hands were identified by several small cuts seen in the video.
The face of the child is shown and when officials talked to her, she had no recollection of the assault.
Cocaine tested positive in the second girl’s system, which would explain why she was unconscious, the affidavit states.
Scott was charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child and three counts of aggravated sexual assault on a child. Each count is a first-degree felony and carries a $100,000 bond. He is currently in the Jefferson County Jail.
If convicted, he could be sentenced to a maximum of life in prison for each count.
