Portage police notebook for April 5, 2018

Between 8:01 a.m. Thursday March 31 and 2:46 a.m. Thursday, April 4, police responded to 216 calls.

School Road: Police on March 29, at 9:21 a.m. responded to a report of damage to a Rite Way school bus seat. A 14-year-old Portage boy was referred to Columbia County Health and Human Services and a 12-year-old Portage boy received a city ordinance citation for criminal damage to property.

Walmart: Police on March 29, at 9:42 p.m. responded to a reported theft where Nicole Peterson, 28, of Portage was accused of attempting to leave the store with over $800 in unpaid merchandise. Peterson was issued a misdemeanor citation for theft.

Walmart: Police on March 30, at 1:47 a.m. responded to a reported theft where Kevin Duty, 43, of Portage, allegedly had walked out with a bag of groceries without paying. Duty was issued a city ordinance citation for shoplifting.

East Cook Street: Police on March 30, at 3:23 a.m. responded to a disturbance where Margarita Hernandez, 24, of Portage, was issued a city ordinance citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Goodyear Park: Police on March 30, at 4:07 p.m. responded to a complaint of a suspected fire where juveniles had been in possession of tobacco. A 13-year-old Portage girl was cited for obstruction of an officer after giving a false name.

East Conant Street: Police on March 30, at 7:57 p.m., responded to a domestic disturbance where a 54-year-old Portage man was arrested on suspicion of domestic disorderly conduct and battery.

Main Street and East Cook Street: Police on March 31, at 2:27 a.m. stopped Nicole Peterson, 28, of Portage, for driving a vehicle connected to an owner with a suspended license. Peterson was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and cited for operating a vehicle after suspension as a fourth offense. The vehicle was towed.

Pauquette Street: Police on March 31, at 9:52 a.m. responded to a reported physical disturbance where Carissa Longo, 28, of Portage was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct.

East Wisconsin Street: Police on March 31, at 9:21 p.m. stopped Tearney Schultz, 19, of Columbus, who following a K9 alert, was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Kwik Trip South: Police on Sunday at 2:11 a.m. contacted a 17-year-old Portage girl who had been sleeping in a vehicle. The girl was arrested on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated as a first offense and possession of a prescription drug without a prescription.

Volk Street: Police on Sunday at 4:33 p.m. responded to a medical emergency where Randy Keefe, 28, of Portage, was arrested for violation of probation and on suspicion of felony bail jumping. Nicholas Jordan, 34, of Portage, was issued a city ordinance citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.

East Emmett Street: Police on Monday at 10:50 a.m. made contact with Jory Keating, 28, of Portage, who was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Walmart: Police on Tuesday at 5:31 p.m. responded to a reported disturbance involving a man grabbing a female customer. Jeffery Colt, 62, was arrested for violation of probation, and on suspicion of disorderly conduct, misdemeanor bail jumping and possession of drug paraphernalia.

West Slifer Street: Police on Wednesday at 10:42 p.m. responded to a disturbance where a 36-year-old Portage woman had allegedly been in an argument and began throwing things at the walls. The woman was arrested on suspicion of domestic disorderly conduct.
