CHICAGO (AP) — The U.S. Postal Service is marking the Lunar New Year with a special stamp and a Chicago celebration.

The Lunar New Year is considered the most important holiday for many Asian communities. The Year of the Ram begins Feb. 19.

On Friday, the postal service will dedicate a new Forever stamp during a ceremony at the Chicago Chinatown Chamber of Commerce. The stamp is the latest in a series of Lunar New Year stamps the postal service started in 2008.

The artwork depicts a wooden candy tray known as the Tray of Togetherness. The trays are filled with candies and other fruits to welcome the new year.

Tangela Bush is acting Chicago postmaster. Bush says this year’s stamp is “one of the most beautifully designed” stamps ever issued.
