Letter: Art center needs to get its act together
In recent weeks, there have been several articles regarding the financial problems at the Rochester Art Center. The abrupt resignation of the director without explanation earlier this year makes me wonder what the board has been doing. I would think it was their job to keep tabs on the finances as well as other business. Council member Michael Wojcik admits he has missed “some” meetings due to conflicts with his board position at Rochester Public Utilities. Perhaps Mr. Wojcik is on too many boards.
The art center has had generous monetary support from the city as well as from the Minnesota State Arts Board and private contributions. It seems time for them to get their act together. Most taxpayers are feeling a bit stretched.
