1 person rescued, 1 missing in California fishing accident
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — One person was rescued but another remained missing Sunday after they were swept off an area of rocks while fishing on California’s San Mateo Coast, authorities said.
Emergency crews responded around 3:15 p.m. following a report that a man and woman were swept off the rocks at Pescadero State Beach, KNTV-TV reports.
The man was rescued and transported to a hospital with a hypothermia-related condition, Cal Fire said.
Swimmers and helicopters continued searching for the missing woman at the beach 28 miles (45 kilometers) south of San Mateo.
The accident victims were not immediately identified.
Personnel from Cal Fire, the U.S. Coast Guard and the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
