Humane Society of Summit County offers ‘Pets for Vets’ discounted adoption fees: see the adoptable animals

AKRON, Ohio -- On Veterans Day, Saturday, Nov. 11, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., U.S. Armed Forces veterans and active military personnel can enjoy a 50 percent discount off the regular adoption fee for dogs, cats and small creatures at the Humane Society of Summit County.

Throughout the year, the humane society offers vets and military members looking for unconditional companionship a 25 percent discount through its “Pets for Vets” program. To adopt, veterans and active military personnel must show a valid military ID.

Regular adoption fees:

Dogs

Seniors animals over 6 years: $50Adult dogs 6 months to 6 years: $125Puppies under 6 months: $175

Cats

Seniors over 6 years or special needs: $20Adults 6 months to 6 years: $50 or two for $75*Bonded adult cats 6 months to 6 years: $50Kittens under 6 months): $75 or two for $100*

* two felines are adopted into the same home at the same time

The humane society also offer a Senior Program in which adopters 60 or older can adopt a dog or cat, 3 years or older and pay only $15 of the adoption fee. This service is made possible through the Pets for the Elderly Foundation and proof of age is required.
