Teen arrested in another teen’s shooting death in Wichita
WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of another teen in Wichita.
Police said officers discovered a 16-year-old with gunshot wounds shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday when they were responding to a reported burglary at a home in north Wichita. That teen was taken to a Wichita hospital where he died. His name wasn’t immediately released.
The Wichita Eagle reports that while police were investigating the shooting, a 16-year-old boy and 20-year-old man showed up at a hospital with gunshot wounds. Department spokesman Officer Charley Davidson said that 16-year-old was arrested after investigators learned that there had been a fight between all three men before the shooting.
Davidson said all three men involved knew each other. After the fight between them started, multiple gunshots were fired and all three men were wounded. Police did not say what the fight was about.
The 16-year-old who was arrested was treated at the hospital and released. The 20-year-old remained hospitalized Sunday with serious injuries that aren’t considered life threatening.
Police said two guns were seized during the investigation.
