Police investigating who shot man after presents stolen
JACKSON, S.C. (AP) — A man was found shot to death after police in South Carolina responded to a 911 call about stolen Christmas presents, authorities said.
The owner of a home on state Highway 125 near Jackson called police about 4 a.m. Wednesday and said when he came home, he noticed some Christmas presents were stolen and others moved around a room, Aiken County deputies said in a news release.
The owner said he noticed three men getting into a car and speeding away as a fourth man ran into the woods, deputies said.
Police dogs found the fourth man dead in the woods with a gun in his hands, investigators said.
Deputies are trying to figure out who shot the man and exactly what happened during the apparent burglary. No arrests have been made.
