Prep sports: Lizzie Drake knocks home the game-winner as Madison Edgewood’s girls soccer team beats Port Washington

Lizzie Drake scored the go-ahead goal in the 69th minute as the visiting Madison Edgewood girls soccer team rallied to take a 2-1 victory over Port Washington in the championship match of Saturday’s Port Washington Quadrangular.

Brita Hovde scored for Edgewood (6-4) in the 47th minute to tie the Pirates (1-4-1) at 1.

Verona 1, Mount Horeb 1

Chandler Bainbridge scored for the Wildcats just 80 seconds into play, but Sydney King gave the visiting Vikings a tie, scoring on a penalty kick in the 63rd minute.

Rachel Nelson had eight saves for Verona, and Grace Dresser made five saves for Mount Horeb.

Delavan-Darien Quad

Beloit Memorial took a 2-1 victory over Delavan-Darien in the championship match of the four-team tournament, following a 3-0 victory over Racine Case in the first round.

Middleton Invitational

Haley Kawalski scored three goals as Middleton shut out Chippewa Falls, 9-0, at the Middleton Invitational. Charolotte Dunn added two goals and an assist for Middleton.



Janesville Parker 11, Madison La Follette 6

Kade Bohlman went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a double as the host Vikings (2-6, 2-5 Big Eight) defeated the Lancers (1-8, 0-7). Closer Logan Coulter pitched four innings, giving up two hits, and had five strikeouts to get the win.

Hartland Arrowhead 12-6, Verona 2-5

After winning the first game 12-2, the Warhawks (7-1) got a walk-off single from Blake Cottrell to complete a non-conference sweep of the host Wildcats (6-4). Verona’s Tristan Largent finished 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.

Fort Atkinson 3, River Valley 1

Jake Willey allowed one run in seven innings to help Fort Atkinson (3-6) slip past host River Valley (7-3). Jojo Crandall finished with two RBIs for Fort Atkinson.

DeForest Triangular

Madison Memorial 9, DeForest 5: Ryan Friedenreich went 2-for-5, finishing with a double and two RBIs, to lead the Spartans past the Norskies.

DeForest 8, Stevens Point 6: Sam Vomhof hit a two-run double in the bottom of the second inning and had a RBI single in the fifth as the host Norskies (4-7) edged the Panthers.

Stevens Point 7, Madison Memorial 3: Josh Morton went 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Panthers (1-3) past the Spartans (6-4). Sam Smith had a double, run and RBI for Memorial.

Watertown 9, Milton 1

Trevor Tietz went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBI to lead the Goslings (8-1) past the visiting Red Hawks (3-6).


Janesville Parker 18-15, Madison West 1-5

The Vikings (4-7, 3-5) used a 12-run fourth inning to defeat the host Regents (0-7, 0-7) in the first game of a Big Eight doubleheader.

Jordyn Nenno hit a home run and drove in four runs to spark Parker.

In the second game, Reave Myszewski homered and drove in three runs for the Vikings. Myszewski also earned the win, allowing five runs in five innings.

Lomira 7, Monona Grove 3


The visiting Lions scored twice in the seventh inning and held on to beat the Silver Eagles. Lauren Luedtke went 3-for-3 with a double and scored twice for Lomira.

Baraboo Invitational

Jovanna Blum pitched five innings, giving up no earned runs, and went 3-for-4 with two RBI to lead Baraboo (3-3) to a 15-5 victory over Pewaukee (3-5).

Stevens Point Quad

Stevens Point 14, DeForest 5: Aubrey Drohner went 3-for-5 with a triple and three RBIs to lead Stevens Point (7-0) to victory over DeForest. Drohner also earned the pitching victory with a complete game.

DeForest 3, Wisconsin Rapids 2: Kennedy Wittmann went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a home run to lead the Norskies (12-2) past Wisconsin Rapids (4-5).


Milton Best Ball

Lodi’s pairing of Logan Walzer and Jacob Michel combined for a 64 and won a three-way tiebreaker to capture first place in the tournament at Bonnie Meade.

Westosha Central won the team title with a score of 206, four strokes ahead of Lodi. Stoughton was third at 220.

McKichan Invitational

River Valley’s Derek Wedige shot 2-over 74 to earn medalist honors in the 14-team tournament. Host Platteville won the Division 1 team title and Argyle/Pecatonica edged Mineral Point by 11 strokes for the Division 2 crown.


Spartan Invitational

Middleton scored a 6-1 victory over Oshkosh West in the championship match to wrap up a 4-0 run through the two-day, eight-team, dual-match tournament hosted by Madison Memorial. Earlier on Saturday, Middleton took a 6-1 victory over Sun Prairie.

Waunakee finished fourth after a 6-1 loss to Mequon Homestead in the third-place match and a 5-2 victory over Kenosha Tremper to open Saturday’s play. Sun Prairie finished fifth, beating Green Bay Preble, 7-0, and Madison Memorial beat Tremper, 7-0, in the seventh-place match.

Madison East Tournament

Verona beat Madison East and Stoughton by identical 7-0 scores, and then took a 4-3 victory over Green Bay Southwest to complete a three-match sweep.

Verona’s Christofer Queoff went 3-0 on the day, winning twice at No. 2 singles and once at No. 1, and the No. 1 doubles team of Jordan Hutchcroft and Vivek Swaminath won their three matches.

Monona Grove also went 3-0 on the day, beating Madison La Follette 4-3, East 5-2 and Stoughton 7-0. Cole Lindwall went 3-0 at No. 1 singles and Andrew Zhou and Jacob Munz won all three matches at No. 1 doubles.


Randy Lyons Invitational

The Fort Atkinson boys finished second in the seven-team meet behind Franklin, which swept the boys and girls titles at Whitewater.

Fort Atkinson senior Seth Foerster won the shot put (43 feet, 2½ inches), and senior Ryley Walter won the discus (147-10).

For the Fort girls, junior Arianna Mansavage won the 1,600 (5:42.65), sophomore Olivia Koch won the shot put (30-7 ½) and senior Aubrey Tesch won the discus (84-9). Johnson Creek freshman Hannah Constable won the 400 (1:02.52).

Albright Invitational

Edgerton freshman Nicholas Spang won the 110 hurdles (:17.92) and freshman Micah Boyd won the high jump (6-0), helping the Crimson Tide take fourth in the eight-team field.

For the fifth-place Edgerton girls, sophomore Emma Storey won the discus (89-3).
