Gabrielle Union is set to star in an NBC spinoff of the Will Smith-Martin Lawrence “Bad Boys” franchise, reprising her role from the second film.

In the TV adaptation, according to the Hollywood Reporter, Union’s Syd Burnett is now an LAPD detective and can pursue all the pleasures Los Angeles has to offer, and leave her past behind.

But things will get complicated when her new partner, working mom Nancy McKenna, learns that Syd’s unapologetic lifestyle may mask a greater personal secret. The crime drama will be written by “Blacklist” writers Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis.

Union, who recently completed filming for “The Public” and “Breaking In,” has appeared in the feature films “Deliver Us From Eva,” “Think Like a Man,” “Think Like a Man Too,” “Top Five” and “The Birth of a Nation.”

For Union, the “Bad Boys” spinoff would mark her follow-up to “Being Mary Jane,” which is set to wrap its run on BET with a two-hour finale movie this year. In 2014, Union won a Best Actress NAACP Image Award for her portrayal of Mary Jane Paul.
