Suspect shot after pursuit by South Carolina police
GREENWOOD, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina state police are investigating the shooting of a man who fled from officers on foot after crashing his car.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division said the Tuesday incident occurred between the man and officers with the Greenwood Police Department.
Greenwood Police Department spokesman Johnathan Link told WHNS-TV that officers tried to pull the man over on Highway 10 but he didn’t stop and instead crashed the car and fled on foot before officers caught him. Link said a “shot was discharged somehow” while officers were trying to handcuff the man.
The man was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive, authorities said. No officers were injured.
