SUNSET, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina teenager who fell from a waterfall in a hiking area died of blunt force trauma, officials said.

Nathalie Ann Ospina, 18, was pronounced dead Sunday at Twin Falls in Sunset, news outlets reported.

Crews responded to the report of the fall Sunday afternoon and encountered “a large amount of visitors” at the hiking area, as well as “treacherous conditions at the base of the waterfall,” Pickens County Emergency Management deputy director Pierce Womack said in a news release.

It’s unclear what led up to the fatal fall. Pickens County Sheriff’s Office was investigating.
