Fort Madison High School ends baseball season

FAIRFIELD — Ryan Steffensmeier had the only hit for the Fort Madison High School baseball team in its 16-1 loss Friday night in a Class 3A district game at the Trojans’ diamond.

The game went just four innings and ended a long season for the young Bloodhounds at 1-32.

Brandon Reichelt scored the only run for FMHS.

Steffensmeier took the loss, giving up 10 runs in 1 1/3 innings. Reichelt piched into the fourth where he gave up five runs. Jace Burgher got through one out before the Trojans scored the run to end the game on the 15-run mercy rule.

The Hounds graduate Brady Reynolds, who will play for Morton College near Chicago next year, and Carlos Gonzales. FMHS graduate Bill Young started the season, but he suffered a season-ending injury early.
