The Greenwich High School baseball team evened its record at 8-8 overall and 6-6 against FCIAC competition by posting a 4-1 win over host Bridgeport Central on Friday.

Ian Colalucci pitched five innings to earn the win for the Cardinals. Charlie Zeeve relieved Colalucci, pitching two scoreless innings to pick up the save. Charlie Povinelli had two hits, while Hayden Kistler doubles for the Cardinals.

Stephen Bennett hit an RBI double, while Robert Lanni and Jackson Blanchard each had one hit for the victors, which scored three runs in the sixth inning. Catcher Kyle Woodring threw out a Central runner at second base and Matt Circelli had two hits for Greenwich.

With their eighth win of the season, the Cardinals clinched a berth in the CIAC Class LL Tournament.

“It was a good team win,” GHS coach Mike Mora said. “We arrived there for a 4:30 game at 4:25 due to traffic, but the Central coach was great, letting us warm-up for a while. Still, it took us a little while to get into the game. Overall, it was a good game for us.”

Greenwich is back in action on Monday, against visiting FCIAC foe Wilton.
