Sowards pitches Fairland past Ironton
ROME TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Reilly Sowards allowed one run on three hits and struck out six with no walks to pitch Fairland to a 4-1 victory over Ironton Tuesday in an Ohio Valley Conference high school baseball game at Roger Snyder Field.
Sowards also went 2-for-4. Tucker Adkins drove in two runs as the Dragons improved to 6-3 overall and 4-0 in the conference.
Cameron Deere drove in Ironton’s run in the sixth, pulling the Fighting Tigers within 2-1. Fairland, which scored twice in the first inning, added two runs in the bottom of the sixth to set the score.

CABELL MIDLAND 16, SOUTH CHARLESTON 3: Peyton Weekly went 2-for-2, hit a home run and drove in four runs to lead the Knights (7-6) to a rout of the Black Eagles in South Charleston, West Virginia. Griffin Adkins and Chad Heiner each were 2-for-3 with two RBI. Dustyn Kingery and Drew Elkins drove in two runs each. For South Charleston, Tyson Burke drove in two runs.

LAWRENCE COUNTY 10, PIKEVILLE 0: Bryce Blevins needed just 64 pitches in a shutout of the Panthers. Jackson Feltner hit a home run, his fourth of the season.
TVC 6, GRACE CHRISTIAN 3: Teays Valley Christian scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning to break a tie and earn the road win in Barbours-ville. Reed Fisher had three hits and three RBI for Teays Valley Christian.
WINFIELD 2, SISSONVILLE 0: The Generals (12-5) had only one hit, a great pitching performance from Peyton Gillispie led to a victory over the Indians. Gillispie scattered six hits in the shutout, with four strikeouts and three walks.
POINT PLEASANT 14, LINCOLN COUNTY 4: The Big Blacks (10-3) scored seven runs in the second inning to pull away from the Panthers. Kyelar Morrow was the winning pitcher and drove in three runs on two hits. Carter Smith had three hits.
ALEXANDER 10, MEIGS 0: Isaac York threw a four-hit shutout and went 3-for-3 as the Spartans beat the Marauders.
WAHAMA 8, MILLER 1: Ethyn Barnitz and Tanner Smith each drove in two runs as the White Falcons (10-3 overall, 6-2 Tri-Valley Conference) beat the visiting Falcons.
EAST CARTER 11, GREENUP COUNTY 1: Donovan Damron singled in a run to complete the Raiders’ mercy-rule victory over the Musketeers.
BOYD COUNTY 6, EAST CARTER 4: The Lions overcame a 2-1 deficit and Boyd County pitchers stranded 11 East Carter runners in the victory.
LEWIS COUNTY 4, GREENUP COUNTY 0: Emily Cole threw a three-hit shutout and drove in a run to lead the Lions over the Musketeers. Hailey Evans homered.
WAHAMA 13, MILLER 1: The White Falcons (14-1 overall, 9-0 TVC) scored 13 runs on 14 hits in the first inning to win their 11th in a row by walloping the Falcons in Mason, West Virginia. Maddy VanMatre and Tanner King hit home runs for Wahama. Hannah Billups was the winning pitcher.
MEIGS 8, ALEXANDER 5: Ciera Older’s two-run single in the top of the seventh inning gave the Marauders (6-5 overall, 3-1TVC) a lead they never relinquished in a victory over the Spartans in Albany, Ohio. Breanna Zirkle was the winning pitcher. Taylor Swartz went 3-for-4 and homered.
SISSONVILLE 11, POCA 2: Aly Soblit and Jenna Thomas each went 2-for-4 and hornered as the Indians (17-2) beat the Dots. Emily Taylor tripled twice and drove in three and Alexis Bailey rapped a pair of singles. Jordan Phillips had a triple and an RBI for Poca (1-14).
ASHLAND 7, LAWRENCE COUNTY 6: Ashland raced to a 6-0 lead and held on to defeat Lawrence County 7-6 Monday in high school baseball.
Robbie Francis smashed a two-run triple and Breaden Caron a run-producing single in the second inning to give the Tomcats a 3-0 lead. An inning later, Cameron Marushi homered and Jacob Cox smacked a two-run single to extend the lead to 6-0.
After Lawrence County scored on an error to pull within 6-1, Zach Greene singled home another run for Ashland to make it 7-1 by the end of the fifth inning.
After a rain delay, Lawrence County added two runs in the sixth inning and three in the seventh to set the score.
PND 11, GREEN 1: Isabel Cassidy went 3-for-3 and scored four runs to lead Portsmouth Notre Dame to a triumph over the Bobcats.
Claire Dettwiller and Chloi Hayslip hit home runs for the Titans. Cassie Schaefer was the winning pitcher.
