Jeske, Pearl G. (Goehner)

Pearl G. (Goehner) Jeske, age 90, went to the Lord peacefully in her early morning sleep on July 4, 2017 at Riverview Manor, Selah, WA. She was born June 23, 1927 in Fargo, ND, and at the age of 7, her family moved to Ritzville, WA. In 1936 they moved to Cashmere, WA. She enjoyed playing the French Horn at Cashmere High School, graduating in 1945. She worked at Cashmere Valley Bank, picked apples and worked in the fruit packing warehouse. She was married on June 15, 1947 to Ernest Jeske in the Dryden Congregational Church, Dryden, WA (divorced 1974). She lived in Cheney and Seattle before settling in Ellensburg, WA. in 1954. She loved raising a family and being active with her children’s school activities. Pearl volunteered in several community organizations which included: Christian Women’s Club, Women’s Association of the Presbyterian Church, Sunday school teacher, Kittitas Valley Hospital Guild, and the Women’s Bowling Association. She was a Camp Fire Girls Leader, Cub Scouts Leader, and active with Boy Scouts. In January 1969, Pearl was one of seventeen adults in the USA honored for her 1968 year of service, as she received the highest award given to adults by the Camp Fire Girls, the “Ernest Thompson Seton Award”. She was a cook at Mt. Stuart Elementary school for several years. When she moved to Yakima in 1981 she cooked at a Selah nursing home. Throughout her life she enjoyed crocheting, bowling, spectator sports, and gardening. In 1986 she thoroughly enjoyed a trip to Europe to visit her daughter in Germany. In 1989 she retired and continued her love of family gatherings and traveling throughout the USA. She is preceded in passing by her parents Matthaus Goehner and Mathilda Bartel, six brothers and five sisters, and one son Anthony Jeske (infant). Pearl is survived by her children Susan (Kevin) Magin (North Muskegon, MI), Nancy (John) Rainsberry (Ellensburg), Rodney Jeske (Ellensburg), Aggie Jeske (Yakima), Roger (Bonnie) Jeske (Richland), Douglas (Karen) Jeske (Tumwater). She has 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to a “Celebration of Life” at 11:00 am on Saturday July 22 at Mercer Creek Church, Ellensburg, WA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to .
