Day Was Double the Fun for Tournament-bound Tyngsboro

The Tyngsboro field hockey team posted a pair of wins over Dracut, 2-0, 1-0, to secure a state tournament berth.

The 1-0 victory was the completion of game that began earlier in the week and was suspended due to weather.

Goalie Emily Ronan notched the shutout in both wins as Tyngsboro evened its record at 9-9. The Tigers will advance to the tourney for the first time in 5 seasons.

Madison Bovill and Mollie Flanagan scored 1 goal each for Tyngsboro.

Ronan made 7 saves in goal.

After the conclusion of Friday’s regularly scheduled game, Tyngsboro and Dracut played the finial six minutes of the first half of the suspended game to make the game official. Maggie Yang’s unassisted goal was the winning tally for the Tigers.

The Mid-Wach champion Tigers wrapped up their regular season with a 13-2-3 record. MIAA Tournament pairings will be released on Monday.


Molly Magnette scored 2 goals and added 3 assists to pace the Littleton offense along with Valerie Crory, who collected 2 goals and 2 assists.

Ruthie Zhang scored the other LHS goal and keeper Julia Cochran made 10 saves in net.

Senior captain Ellen Olszowy and junior Nicole O’Neil scored Westford Academy’s goals in this non-league game.
