Nashoba Will Play for Title
The Chieftains continued to dominate on the field hockey pitch Wednesday night.
Second-seeded Nashoba Regional earned a spot in its fifth straight Central Mass. Division 1 final, cruising past No. 6 Quabbin Regional, 5-0, in a semifinal tilt.
High school field hockey
The Chieftains (18-0-2) will face topseeded Wachusett Regional (19-1-1) for the championship at Grafton High School on Saturday, with a start time of 10:45 a.m.
The semifinal victory saw the Chieftains score twice in the first 10 minutes and take a 4-0 lead to halftime.
Natalie Brown scored twice and added an assist to pace the Nashoba offense, while Erica Spallone contributed a marker and a helper.
Gigi Fay opened the scoring off of a Brown feed just seven minutes in and Spallone doubled the lead just moments later.
Brown potted a goal off a Maddie Zacchini pass and Kiera Spedden fired a shot that found the back of the cage to close out the scoring in the first-half.
Brown converted a Spallone pass in the second half to extend the lead to five goals.
Caylie McMahon stopped six shots to earn the shutout.
