Pinson will not play for No. 9 UNC at Miami
North Carolina guard Theo Pinson will not play for the No. 9 Tar Heels (19-3, 7-1 ACC) at Miami Saturday. The junior rolled his right ankle Thursday night in UNC’s win against Virginia Tech (15-5, 4-4 ACC) and did not play the second half.
Pinson came off the bench and scored five points, grabbed three rebounds, added two assists and a steal in his six minutes against the Hokies before landing awkwardly while trying to rebound the and leaving game with 9:29 left in the first half.
Pinson has only played in six games for North Carolina this season after sitting the first 16 games because of a broken bone in his right foot. He had surgery on that foot Oct. 26, returned to practice after Christmas and averaged 6.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.3 in the games he played in.
He had 12 points, 10 rebounds and two assists vs. Florida State and 11 points, five rebounds and three assists at Boston College. Pinson has 20 assists and only two turnovers this year.
