Paula P. Patino
Paula P. Patino, 95, of Springfield, Ill., passed away at 1:15 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Pleasant Hill Village.
Paula was born on March 5, 1922, in Fort Madison, the daughter of Ladislao M. and Cleofas Rodriguez Prado.
Paula worked at the Glade Room at the St. Nicholas Hotel and later owned Paula’s, a restaurant in Springfield. She eventually retired in 1992 after 25 years of service with the Department of Public Aid. She was a member of Toastmasters and a World War II volunteer.
Paula was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Jorge and Robert Patino; granddaughter, Jaime Patino; sisters, Guatalupe Alvarado and Amparo Vela.; brothers, Milo, Lalo and Tommy Prado, as well Bart Prado who passed away just days after Paula.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Sonya (Gonzalo Leon) Patino of Salem, Ore., Robert M. Patino of Springfield, Ill.; and Nicole Patino of Chicago, Ill.; her great grandchildren, Diego and Deven Patino of Salem, Ore., and Vivian Patino of Springfield, Ill.; siblings, Nacho Patino of Davenport, and Barty (Carmen) Padro and Bennie Aguirre, both of Fort Madison; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Friday, April 7, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos, Springfield, Ill.
The funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, with Rev. Robert Jallas as celebrant. Burial will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
