Ambitious musical ‘Children of Eden’ opens at Aspire Community Theatre

April 17, 2018 GMT

Though it’s never been a critical darling, “Children of Eden” has seen a steady stream of performances around the world since it opened in London in 1991.

The musical, which features a book by John Caird and music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (“Godspell,” “Pippin,” “Wicked”), uses the Old Testament, specifically Adam, Eve, Noah and the “Father” who created them, to discuss parents, children and faith.

With a cast of about 30, Aspire Community Theatre will bring ‘Children of Eden’ to the Kroc Center stage Friday through April 29.

The musical has already proven itself to be popular; the Thursday show has been sold out since the end of March.

“Children of Eden” is directed and choreographed by Trigger Weddle and stage managed by Faith Mitchell. Chuck Ethridge is musical director, and Brandon Michael is associate musical director.
