SOMERSET, Mass. (AP) — The body of a man reported missing after failing to return from a boating trip on Friday has been found, authorities said.

The person’s body was recovered from the Taunton River on Sunday, Somerset Fire Chief Jamison Barros said in a statement.

The man’s name has not been released.

The Somerset Harbor Master reported that the man took a dinghy from the Somerset Yacht Club at about 5 p.m. on Friday and did not return. His car was found Saturday in the club’s parking lot.

A search Saturday ended at about 5 p.m. and crews returned to the river on Sunday.

A state police helicopter identified an area of interest, and the body was recovered about 11 a.m., officials said.

An autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of death but foul play is not suspected.
