Orthopedic Hospital shows off robotic arm
The Orthopedic Hospital on Friday publicly unveiled its new surgical robotic arm, which is being used to assist during joint replacement procedures. The Lutheran Health Network-owned hospital began using the technology in October and has performed more than 50 operations with it, spokesman Geoff Thomas said.
The robotic arm “enables surgeons to have a more predictable surgical experience with increased accuracy,” officials said in a news release. An orthopedic surgeon guides the robotic arm as it removes diseased bone and cartilage and implants an artificial joint.
