Tractor-trailer crash snarls traffic on Interstate 91
CROMWELL, Conn. (AP) — A tractor-trailer drove off the side of Interstate 91 and landed on a street below early Sunday, causing major delays.
The crash occurred in the southbound lanes at approximately 5:45 a.m. in Cromwell, south of Hartford. The impact ripped off a piece of the metal guardrail and left it protruding onto the highway, forcing the closure of two lanes.
State police were urging motorists to use alternate routes. It wasn’t immediately known if there were any injuries.
Photos posted online showed the truck resting on its side on a street below the highway. Cromwell Mayor Enzo Faienzo tweeted that the street would be closed for a while as the accident is cleared.
