Two killed in wreck on Interstate 84 near Twin Falls
Two Heyburn men were killed after a one-vehicle crash Friday on Interstate 84.
Frank Ortega, 85, of Heyburn, was traveling eastbound on I-84 near Twin Falls in a 2005 Ford Excursion. Ortega changed lanes, slid and went into the median. The vehicle rolled.
A passenger, David Ortega, 28, of Heyburn, who was not wearing a seatbelt, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Frank Ortega and another passenger, April Gutierrez, 22, of Rupert, were both transported by ground ambulance to St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls. Frank Ortega was wearing a seatbelt, but Gutierrez was not.
After arriving at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center, Frank Ortega was airlifted to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, where he died early Saturday morning.
The crash is under investigation by Idaho State Police.
