JOHNSON CREEK -- Gerald “Gerry” W. Leath, 70, of Johnson Creek, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at his home.

A memorial service with military graveside rites will take place at a later date at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family. Online condolences may be made at www.hafemeisterfh.com.

Gerald Wayne Leath was born on Sept. 3, 1947, in Moberly, Missouri, the son of James and Naomia (nee Burton) Leath. Gerry attended Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri, where he was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, and Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri. He served in the United States Army in Vietnam. On July 27, 1974, he was united in marriage to Gail Brinkmann in Moberly. Gerry enjoyed woodworking, gardening and golfing.

He is survived by his wife, Gail Leath of Johnson Creek; three brothers, Paul Leath of Somerset, New Jersey, Bob (Lynn) Leath of Leavenworth, Kansas, and Charlie (Nancy) Leath of St. Charles, Missouri; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
