BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — Remnants of Tropical Depression Fred are expected to bring heavy rains to Vermont.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for parts of central and southern Vermont from 11 p.m. Wednesday though 11 p.m. Thursday.

Rainfall of 1 to 2 inches with localized higher amounts is expected in central Vermont, Addison, Orange, Rutland, Washington and Windsor counties. Heavy rain will cause small creeks and streams to rise rapidly leading to flash flooding, the weather service said.
