SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — Customers in the Champlain Water District are being asked to curtail nonessential uses of water through noon on Tuesday as the water treatment facility undergoes a production capacity slowdown.

The district on Sunday asked residents in Shelburne, South Burlington, Milton, Williston, Essex Junction, Essex Town, Colchester, the village of Jericho, and Winooski to conserve water so that it can store enough and have enough for fire protection.

Customers are asked to curtail any outdoor water use and nonessential indoor use such as laundry and dishwashing.
