Special weather alert: Up to 3 inches of snow expected to fall on Pocatello, Blackfoot, Idaho Falls areas

Much of Eastern Idaho is expected to receive up to 3 inches of snow Monday night through early Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather alert about the snow, urging motorists to use caution.

The storm will drop between 1 and 3 inches of snow on the following areas: Idaho Falls, Ammon, Pocatello, Chubbuck, Fort Hall, Blackfoot, Atomic City, American Falls, Rigby, Driggs, McCammon, Arimo, Inkom, Palisades, Swan Valley, Ririe Reservoir, Neeley, Chesterfield Reservoir, Goshen, Blackfoot Reservoir, Firth, Shelley, Aberdeen, Victor, Bone and Iona.

The rest of East Idaho might see scattered flurries or no snow at all.

The snow started falling in Pocatello around 8:30 p.m. Monday.

The weather service stated Monday night: “If you are traveling through Southeast Idaho this evening, slow down and give yourself a little extra time to reach your destination.”
